Week #9 - October 13th-October 20th
This week has been one of intense focus and commitment. A major highlight has been my growing involvement in BPA. I’ve been putting a lot of effort into leading the club effectively, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to see that effort pay off. We’ve gained a significant number of new members, and our team is shaping up well for competition season. Seeing that growth and enthusiasm within the club has been motivating. It feels like all the organization, planning, and communication are finally coming together.
Furthermore, for my Original Work, I am developing an IoT‑based plant monitoring system designed to collect and analyze environmental and soil data to improve crop health and optimize agricultural yield. The system uses interconnected sensors to measure factors such as soil moisture, temperature, and light intensity, transmitting data to a central platform for visualization and analysis. By integrating elements of AI and data modeling, the project aims to detect early signs of plant stress and provide actionable insights for more efficient and sustainable farming practices. This project represents the intersection of my interests in electrical and computer engineering, IoT systems, and environmental innovation.
I also had the opportunity to get on another professional call this week. It was a continuation of my networking efforts, building off what I learned from my previous experience. This time, I felt more confident and prepared in how I introduced myself and spoke about my work. The conversation was insightful and reinforced my passion for IoT and AI applications, while also giving me a better understanding of how professionals in the field approach real‑world problems. I came out of it with new advice and a strong perspective on what is to come in terms of reaching out to new mentors and the next steps in my original work.
I’m proud of the progress made this week: in leadership, communication, and focus. Each experience has helped me grow a little more, and I’m beginning to see how these small steps are shaping me for both ISM and beyond.
